Craftsy 2013 BOM - May Blocks

Another month almost gone and another set of Craftsy BOMs completed.
Craftsy 2013 BOM - May
These were quick and fun.  We were to pick 8 different fabrics and cut into 2.5 in strips.  I made do with 7 different fabrics, as I don't have much of 2 other fabrics.  Pair two strips sewn together lengthwise and another two strips sewn together.  Triangles were cut from the 2 strip sections which were placed right sides together.  So I got 2 pieced triangles with every triangle cut.  Bet that's clear as mud!!  These measure 7.5 inches.

Hope your Memorial Day is a good one.

Countdown to Christmas - Top finished!!!

The top is assembled!!  WooHoo!!

Cntdown Top
Now I'll  have to figure out how to quilt it and add it to my list of tops to quilt...which is getting longer all the time.  I also need a name for this quilt.  Any suggestions??

Countdown to Christmas - I'm making blocks!!

Began the process of piecing the blocks.  I think I'm gonna love the looks of this quilt!

Row 1
Looking at the row from the left side, this will be the first horizontal row.

Closeup of colors
This shows a closeup of the 2 center blocks with the 3 colors in the quilt.  You can see my pinned-on notes.  I have to think when putting this top together!!  AAAACK!!!   And yes, I actually drew little pictures so I'd know where to place a pink corner!

Countdown to Christmas - May

Snapped a picture of the last 3 embroidery designs.  There are 12 different designs, each sewn out twice - one in pink and one in yellow.

More Countdown embroidery
Tearing off stabilizer from 24 blocks...B-0-R-I-N-G!!!!!!

Decided on my layout.  Rather than have sashing and cornerstones in a horizontal layout, I'm going to tilt the embroidered blocks and accent these with the other two fabrics.  I love EQ7!!!!

EQ7 Layout
Whatcha think???  It will measure about 56 by 80 inches.

Quilting on the 2012 Craftsy BOM!

I'm back working on the 2012 Craftsy BOM.  The 830 is performing perfectly for me as I free motion my way through this quilt.  I'm following the directions from Leah Day's Craftsy class, Free Motion Quilting a Sampler Quilt.

Center Section
I've completed 5 of the blocks so far.  I'm much more relaxed, but I still have problems going back over previous stitches when necessary.

Closeup of 4 blocks
Far from perfect, but not bad!  Not bad at all.  And you can see I'm using green thread!  Same green in the bobbin.  It's embroidery thread.  And as Leah says, how you tell if your getting better if you can't see your stitches??  Very scary!!!

Jelly Roll Runner Finished!

Finally!  I got back to the Jelly Roll runner and got it quilted.  I decided I wanted to quilt some feathers in the center using a variegated thread.  Lookin' good.  Then I decided I would go around the feathers in pebbles to give the feathers some 'umph'.  Uh oh!!  I shouldn't have used the same variegated thread...now I'm losing my feathers.  Ok, I'll just keep going because no way am I going to take out those tiny stitches in the pebbles and most pebbles are double stitched!!  So I went back over the feathers.  Hmmm...better.  Why not do that again???  So I did!  Now the center looks pretty good, but those block borders sure are waving at me!!  What do to?  More stitching, of course.  So I did a simple back and forth very close together.  Yeah!!!  The waves are gone!!!

Runner End
This shows one end of the runner with a pretty good view of the swirlies on the black border.

Runner center section
This shows more of the middle section of the runner.  Here you can see the pebbles and feathers better.  Oh, did I tell you this is ALL free motion????  Yep, I'm getting braver and braver!

If you don't like what you do the first run, keep on stitchin' til you do!   Worked this time, as I was afraid this would be a File 13 project....trashed, just in case you aren't familiar with a File 13.  So now you see why I end my posts with the keep on stitchin' thing! LOL

Keep on Stitchin'!!
